The Buddha, with his forthright stance, indicating his great alertness & compassion towards the world, is a unique product among the galaxy of Buddha images in Sri Lanka. The crystal eye-balls are still intact. Right hand shows Abhayamudra, indicating the Buddha\'s benevolence towards beings & the bent left hand holds the edge of the robe falling on the side. The transparent robe is worn right shoulder bare & the Amaravati swag of the early images is still retained by the image.
